This free museum is well worth a visit. Only 5-10 minutes from the shops in town or 2 minutes if you are up on the marketplace. Plenty of finds from medieval going back to the middle palaeolithic.

Possibly not somewhere your kids will demand to go back to again and again however!

Some pretty good prehistoric displays; flints, axes and the like, rock art and a couple of burial mock ups....
Free entry gotta be worth a look if you're experiencing the usual Buxton weather.
