Stonehenge and its Environs

An ancient ceremonial pathway linking Stonehenge and the nearby River Avon has been unearthed during work to close the road alongside the monument.

I had to read this twice, as I couldn't quite believe it first time round : "It is very exciting to find a piece of physical evidence that officially makes the connection which we were hoping for." National Trust archaeologist Dr Nick Snashall said it confirms "with total certainty" that Stonehenge and its Avenue were linked. Are they actually trying to suggest there was some doubt over whether the avenue and Stonehenge were connected?! Whaat? Bizarre.	Posted by Evergreen Dazed 16th September 2013ce
