Delfour

Clava Cairn

Delfour (Clava Cairn) by GLADMAN Any site with the main Cairngorm Massif as a skyline isn't exactly lacking in visual drama, is it?

This one has been on the list for ages, this shot bumps the urgency. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

There is something about these Clavas I find particularly interesting.......... GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN

Me too, I love them. Finally got to Corrimony and Druidtemple last time we were up in Inverness. I hadn't realised this one was so good though, especially the setting which I somehow thought was lower. The main thing that's put me off this one is it's quite a way from anything else to see as a day trip. But definitely looks decent.

Have you been to Carn Irenan/Urnan on the Black Isle? It's a Clava cairn alone in an area of lots of chambered cairns, well worth a look if you're up that way. Also Culburnie and Bruiach southwest of Inverness.

No... my Black Isle visits have been restricted to Grey Cairn/Woodhead/Wester Brae. Too much to see. But the more the better. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN
