Hi Eds... I think we have a little bit of confusion with this. I reckon the images added by TSC relate to the Gaer Fawr Cairn marked on the map at SS76540 94070 (south of the Gaer Fawr enclosure)... while this site is the cairn within the higher Buarth y Gaer hillfort? If so, can we move TSCs pics? I can see TSC has a pic of THIS cairn posted for Buarth y Gaer hill fort

Hiya,
Happy with whatever the Eds say, but my view was that the round barrow within Buarth y Gaer hillfort didn't warrant its own site, it's not that exciting. I added pictures of it to the Buarth y Gaer hillfort site.

I must admit I hadn't looked at Carl's co-ordinates on the Buarth y Gaer cairn site, nor had I properly read his fieldnotes which refer to it being within the earthwork. I just assumed (wrongly) that his cairn site was the one down the hill from Buarth y Gaer hillfort.

Rather than moving all the pictures, it would be easier to amend the co-ordinates on the existing cairn site 13759 to SS76549407, then delete the additional site, as I'm still not convinced the barrow within the hillfort needs its own site. I do agree with you that the cairn down the hill would be better named as Gaer Fawr cairn, as it's nearer to that site than the Buarth y Gaer.

Hi Gladman,

I've moved TSC's photos to your new Gaer Fawr cairn site page, following your suggestion.

I've also decided to delete the Buarth y Gaer cairn site. As the cairn is quite damaged and is within the hillfort anyway, it doesn't need a second TMA site page for essentially the same grid reference. Carl's fieldnotes for the cairn have been moved to the hillfort site page so that they're not lost.

Thanks for flagging this.

TMA Ed.
