Oldest thing on the planet, he reckons. Can anyone do any better?

I think Lewisian Gneiss (if indeed that is what they are made of), is meant to be one of the oldest rocks on he planet... so Titchmarsch could be right... it felt really strange typing those last few words!

yes -" 4 billion years of Evolution from our microbial ancestors" Lynn Margulis, if you want to read about how life started "what is Life" written by Margulis and Dorian Sagan.

Never got over her idea that we are walking bag of "selfish" cells, probably navigated by a clumsy brain - last bit is my interpretation.. ;)
