To all those lucky people who were in Callanish recently - were you really lucky and saw the moon ? I'd love to hear how you got on.

With the moon at its very lowest on Sept 29th, has anyone any ideas where in the southern counties we might get a good view on a clear southerly horizon, preferably but not necessarily with a prehistoric context. It will be a half moon at around 6 p.m.

The Rollright Stones has a good view to the south, across the Jurassic Way and the valley - you may get a good view there.

From Windmill Hill you should get a view of Waden Hill on your left, Silbury centre and West Kennet on your right.

Might be interesting to see what happens with Silbury.

Hello Gerald,

There was moon on the nights starting on 7th and 8th July. Both were for only a few minutes to be honest (have some videos in my private collection;-). On the night starting with 9th there was also some moon (did not record that), but it was not through the stones as I heard from a local.
I have no information on the moon 10th.

Hope this helps. See for the coming events:

I plan to go their around Sept 29th. But the web camera will record the events from say next week (near northern standstill limit from 20th of July. But many will happen (better than the June and July ones to be honest;-) And hopefully with less people and less 'naughty children'.

All the best,

Victor

Hi Gerald. I made it, but the moon was too shy. On the night of the 10th, the weather was appalling, and too cloudy when it did lighten somewhat.

Nights either side weren't any better either.

My photos from the night are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/xrichx/sets/72157594203894233/

There are other photos from my whole trip, which I'm still posting.
