Callanish…

...was more than I could ever have expected it to be. And that's only one of the sites.

Lewis is a magical place.

Big thanks to Jane & Moth for organising, lovely to meet Alastair & Jamie and excellent as ever to be in the company of Moey & Joolio. As for Margaret & Ron Curtis - truly inspirational.

It hurts to leave.

sounds like you had a great time :D

you're right... it's a lovely place.

Yup, it's fab! I'm hoping to get there again sometime next spring ...
Mwah - big snogs and hugs to you from me, Beardy and the Vybemobile

I'm going to Harris next week, for two weeks. Unfortunately leaving the morning before the moon skim at Callanish, however I still can't wait to experience what seems to be a magical part of the world.

It was good to catch up with you Vybik and with Moth, Jane, Jamie (soz mate can't remember the correct spelling!) - a splendid time was had by all in the company of Ron and Margaret.

Some pictures winging their way to you soon.

All the best

Joolio

We're back! It took us only 8 hours and 45mins to drive from Ullapool to Oxford yesterday afternoon/evening/night with only three very short piss n petrol stops.

Didn't want to leave :-(

I made some good paintings, have sunburned skin and brought two giant Lewisian gneiss pebbles back with me from the indescribably wonderful Dalbeg beach. Didn't bring back one of Margaret's kitten in the end. We felt that travelling back with a tiny frightened kitten for that long would be cruel.

Quite apart from the stones *sigh*, the best thing was meeting everybody and spending a long time with them.

I am in awe of Margaret. Anyone who can engage a group of people in a howling gale on a bleak hilltop with horizontal rain lashing down gets my vote. Top woman!

Blogs, photos and paintings coming soon...

your giving me wonderfull memories of my honeymoon, so glas you all had a wonderfull time, wish i could have been there too.

Hi all!

What a gas! Excellent time, and Bigsweetie's tour of Perthshire etc was wonderful too!!!!

Not to mention Aberdeenshire - my adopted megalithic home....

Wonderful to meet up with everyone and to finally partake of the Margaret (& Ron) Curtis Experience! I had high expectations and still had my mind blown. http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/user/1761

I'm sorting pix when I can & will post some of them soon(ish) but I'll post a URL for most of the ones of the main sites, as I don't want to get into trubble with the Eds for posting duplicate images.

Huge thanks and affection to everyone who helped make it so special - in particular: Vybik, Cloudhigh, Juamei, Joolio, Moey, Kammer & the Kammers and John (the Lurker) & Nancy. Plus of course Margaret & Ron, and most of all Jane for organising the cottage etc & patience with rushing around Aberdeenshire!!!!

Wanna go back. Now!!!

love

Moth

Did anyone manage to get out to Rubha Charnain, perchance?
