Kozmik Ken's recent news item about the cave art at Creswell Crags repeatedly mentions 'cave paintings':

They are not cave paintings, they are engravings. I'm not blaming Kozmik Ken for the error, but feel that it would be a good idea for him to point this out in the posting.

BTW, did any of you lot take the unique, recent opportunity to view the engravings? I still haven't come down from the cave ceiling!

Cor!
You spawny thing!
Colour me purest green!
I originally thought these things were at Cresswell (2 s's) Northumberland, not Creswell, which would have put them in traveling distance for me.

It sounds top notch.

Hey up Baza,

I also managed to get down Cresswell to have a look at the engravings...and I completely agree that they were a proper buzz....
Only thing that sorta pissed me off was the no photos allowed bit....I was told that it was for "conservation reasons".....were you given any kinda reasons for not taking your camera in?
And...am I missing something here?.....like what happens to the engravings if you sorta did do?
Or is the Ibex camera shy?...nah can't be that..didn't it have a fookin' kinda silly beardy thing attached?

nice one
