I'm Lonely…..

close

No..thats not the truth but...

Am I the only forum poster that is stuck in deepest Cornwall? All you lot up there meeting up at Avebury or other places far far away from here.

I know Goffick is down here at the mo, sadly I am too busy in the evenings to meet up for a pint, even though he is only 5 miles down the road. Never mind.

It is just that when i come across something down here that I can't explain it would be nice to get someone else's opinion. See my latest posts regarding strange ring on Bodmin Moor and possible menhir.

Is there anybody out there?

Mr H

Actually, Mr. H, we all live in a big house on the outskirts of Newquay and get up to all sorts of brilliant fun all the time. We just don't invite you.

Think there're a few peeps down your way - they post a lot of stuff from down that way, but don't seem to use the forum much.

HI Mr H,

Ahhh, ever so lonely eh?

I've been to Cornwall many times over the last two years and was a very active poster etc....but not been since June and not sure when next trip might be....

Not much help am I!?

I know what you mean: I have the whole of Ireland to myself*

There are a few that post the odd thing for Ireland (and when someone comes over for a week or two there are little influxes), but they are few and far between.

We need more people posting luvverly Irish sites!

*this is because I am a nasty man and smell of ashtrays, kippers and onions

"See my latest posts regarding strange ring on Bodmin Moor and possible menhir."

Can you direct me to these.

I am a local. Would be interested to know of these.

Ah, yes... sorry about that! I was gonna call you to confirm the unlikely... hood... erm... that we'd be able to meet up... Such a shame, but with only 2 full days, we thought we'd make the most of it and get a few miles in... Spent one day in West Penwith (Chun Quoit and Castle, and Carn Gloose/Gluze) and the other around Holywell Bay (blast that low tide!) - could have done with you there then, actually! We went as far to the North end of the beach as we could, tide permitting, but the bit where we suspected the cave to be was already unreachable! But only just... the temptation was rather high, but I remember the speed at which it came in once before! So we spent an hour wandering amongst the ones we could go in, just in case... Bah! Still not found it... :( Next time I'll check the tide times! We got there around 11:30am thinking the low tide would be around midday... Oh, well... Took a nice walk across the cliffs to Perranporth, anyway - across the dunes, via the remains of (site of) St Piran's Oratory and church and that lovely celtic cross... then all the way back via the road - I've never been so knackered! :o) It was nice...

We'll be back next year for a week tho - we'll definitely have to get together then...

I could certainly help you be a lot less lonely if you could find 2 people jobs and a house - what we wouldn't give to live in Cornwall! We're so happy when we're there... One day... *sigh*

I had this idea a while back that there could be an option on our TMA profiles to include a grid reference (maybe 4 figure) or postcode for where we live.

Then we could have a version of the megalithic map that pinpointed where we are all based. This would be great for figuring out who was the best person to ask a question about a specific locality, but it would also help folk to meet up.

The only snags are,

a) It would be a load of work for the esteemed Mr McGrail
b) it's not very 'site orientated' (i.e. all about 'us' not the stones).
