I'd forgotten that I'd done it, but I posted this under Merrivale ages ago coz I think it's somewhere around there. I had meant to ask at the time, but....

Any of the SW specialists recognise it?

I think I found it having seen it in a book called summat like Dartmoor 365 if that helps, but I no longer have access to the book. (Too many other books I want to go and find/buy it!)

Is it not the cist in the cairn which sits astride one of the Merrivale rows - the one furthest away from the road.

Whilst on the subject...I recently picked up a book in my local charity shop called "Dartmoor's Mysterious Megaliths" bu Brian Byng. It contains a section on Merrivale, lots about diagrams about sun and moon settings and rises and many black and white drawings of dartmoor sites.

One such is Yellowmead Fourfold Circle. I see Goffic has recently visited, is it the site marked on the OS map as Cairn Circles? If so I think a visit is in order. I know the area quite well having done a bit of climbing on Sharptor when I was of lighter frame! Time to revisit.

What other sites in the Sheepstor, Burrator area should I visit? so many marked on the map.
