Whilst on the subject...I recently picked up a book in my local charity shop called "Dartmoor's Mysterious Megaliths" bu Brian Byng. It contains a section on Merrivale, lots about diagrams about sun and moon settings and rises and many black and white drawings of dartmoor sites.

One such is Yellowmead Fourfold Circle. I see Goffic has recently visited, is it the site marked on the OS map as Cairn Circles? If so I think a visit is in order. I know the area quite well having done a bit of climbing on Sharptor when I was of lighter frame! Time to revisit.

What other sites in the Sheepstor, Burrator area should I visit? so many marked on the map.

Yep indeedy-do! Yellowmead is the so-called "cairn circle" marked on the map... bit misleading, I suppose, but then there's a circle in Cornwall that is SO OBVIOUSLY a stone circle, and is marked on the Explorer map as fkn "tumuli"!!! (And, sweet christ, I can't remember for the life of me where it is now! I'll have a search back through me holiday snaps....)

I'm gonna go and have a proper look at the area one day... looks like there's plenty to see and the surroundings are fabulous. We set off from Yellowmead to Drizlecombe but it was getting late and we were still about a million miles from home so we went back to the car. :(

Dartmoor is beautiful.
