Derbyshire hints?

close

I’m visiting Derbyshire in a week or so. This site & Aubrey Burl’s ‘Stone Circles’ book has convinced me there are a quite few lesser-known monuments worth visiting in this area. I’ll have about 4-5 hours worth of hunting once I get there, and would welcome TMA member’s recommendations for Derbyshire sites. My only criteria being-
Not the Nine Ladies, Nine Stones Close, Doll Tor or Arbour Low. I’ve been already, (though Nine Ladies is on my agenda anyway, now the railings have gone).
Also, stone circles are my priority, but I do like to take in any other sites that are close.
I don’t mind if they are small (Doll Tor is one of my favourite sites) or even ruined but recognisable.
Thanks XX

Hey up,

The 3 circles on Barbrook are well worth checking out......not a great deal of walking needed to get to see 'em....then again over the Barbrook brook itself is the Hut Circle and settlement/enclosure at Swine Sty.

The 3 circles on Eyam Moor are also worth it....but can be a bit of a pain to find...

Then there's the Hordron Circle and Bamford South.......these 2 are a bit more spread out than either the Barbrook or Eyam Moor sites.....but you'd be hard pushed to find better....

nice one
