Now that I'm a fully badged-up faux-nouveau Northerner (again), can anyone recommend a local place of cosmicness to watch the sun (attempt to) rise on Saturday morning?

Anywhere Peaky is good.

Thanks
H.

how about thor's cave, at least it'll be a tiny bit less inhospitable than out in the open:

Hey up,

I reckon go for Arbor Low if it's as clear as it was this morning it's gonna be chuffin ace .....Barbrook 1 always a good one too. The 9 ladies gets a lot of idiots up there, on Halloween loads of cars got trashed.
nice one

Nine Stones close is quiet, usually overlooked, and has great views.

Enjoy, wherever you go, I'll probably be in London :-(

need somewhere groovy nearby, so we can get to airport soon after

uxbridge ski slope is probably the top contender at the mo, or maybe Tappae's mound ... not sure if the gatehouse will block the view or not

I think Arbor Low sounds pretty good... especially if there's a bit of frost on the ground and a totally clear sky. :-)

I'm gonna try and get to either Castlerigg or Long Meg for sunrise, with Ursula, MushroomSi and Mel (MushroomSi's wife), depending on whether we get our act together in time. The rest of the day shall be spent visiting a few other Cumbrian sites and pubs (of course) - Great stuff!
