All dried up??

close

Evening all, am having great difficulties tracking any info about Lynn Cerrig Bach on here. I know it's close to RAF Valley on Mona (and apparently marked by a ruddy great boulder) but am buggered if I can find any ref on any of the OS maps i've got, or in here.

Also does anyone know if the holders of the keys to Bryn Celli Ddu or Barcliod I Gawres have changed at all?

Cheers

B

Llyn Cerig Bach (NGR SH305*766*) on Ynys Mon isn't mentioned here or t'other place because the hoard was found in the lake, as the name suggests, and I suspect the spot to dive on isn't known ;-)

There's no key needed for Bryn Celli Ddu these days. The key for BYG can be obtained from the Wayside stores in Llanfaelog for a fiver (well, it could at the end of August according to Jane*)

*So blame her if it's wrong ;-)

Here are some of the things found in the lake;

There were slave chains as well, 6 massive neck links apparently, some finds are attributed as offerings to the gods to stop the advance of the Romans.

Llyn Cerrig Bach - Lake of Little Stones

Ann Ross who writes about the place in her Lindow Man book, says that it was probably the site of an important sanctuary, the gold and probably slaves offered as sacrifice, as the traders came over from Ireland, it is a pure iron age site, that was obviously destroyed after the roman victory...
