I love barn owls too.
the only time ive seen them is either at some stones, or on the way to and from.
The best one was at the ring of brodgar mid june about 10.30 pm all on my own and this ghost flew past, immediatly recognisable as a barn owl even though id never seen one in the flesh.

Thanks moss! I was a bit worried that because I'd focused the composition on the owl and not the stones that it might not strictly have 'enough megalithic content' according to the image posting guidelines. But no one has objected so far...
