Silbury Mound

close

Hopefully Pete, or someone else, will discover what the mound was originally called but, meanwhile, the name Silbury Mound is pretty neutral and fits the bill reasonably well.

How bad's the fly-tipping? Just an idea but if the rubbish is small stuff that can be bagged and carted away in our cars maybe we could do that on the 29th after the Silbury Protest. There should be a few willing volunteers on hand and people's ideas and imput 'on site' would be interesting and valuable.

there is a good lorry load of rubble dumped ontop and which is drifting down towards the spring. This is recent stuff in the last year. There is a lot of buried crap underneath including a fridge. However there is very little at the bottom. There are too many nettles over the mound at the moment to do any cleaning up, best wait till jan/feb 2005 so we can see exactly what is there.

IMHO, This name could cause some confusion, too close to the real thing. It's closest to Waden, Springs, W. Kennet LB and the pallisade site.

I have to say I'm not keen on the whole "Silbaby" thing...

I think it's association with the spring would be more fitting.

Boring, moi? ;o)

Searching through prints, paintings and woodcuts I found this.
The person ontop the haywaggon is looking at Silbury but what are the two people on the ground looking at?
