There's a write up on Silbaby in the FT. It mentions PeteG and is quite complementary about the discovery.
In the Archaeology section, p 20.
I subscribe and it arrived today, it may not be on the newstands yet. I think suscribers get it a few days early.

What does it say, roughly ?

Silly me! I read the post without the thread title. I thought that FT meant the Financial Times! Oh well - if its in the Fortean Times it must be true.

(Then again it could just be debris from the road construction)

Well done, PeteG!

As always, I'm sure other publications will pick up on it and we'll be reading more about Silbaby in the future. Might even lead to some proper archaeology on the site.

Good luck.

...who was the comedian who came up with the name?

If it DOES turn out to be material from inside Silbury, then the name Silbaby would be quite appropriate!

Now that I am recovering a little I will be updating a few of my sites bit by bit.

The volume of "likely tunnel voids" in Silbury is 310m3. So the volume of the Merewether tunnel is likely to be something around 150m3 or less I suppose.

The volume of Silbaby is one third of pi r squared timed height, minus about a tenth for the flat top maybe? 8 metres high? 14 metres radius? Which is 1500 m3, ten times greater.

(Please check this Steve…)

Checked out the so called silbaby at the weekend....i dont reckon its what pete g is saying at all.....
