Looks v chambered-cairny to me. I guess it COULD be coincidence as there's relatively little there.

It looks like something. In the pics it looks like there are two larger stones, but none of the pics shows their relationship. Are there two stones and if so where is the smaller one in relation to the bigger one?

It does look as if there's a big bit of bedrock under the pile of stones or is that some structure?

Woolfnighthunter,
Got to be brief - lack of time, sorry. I know the place you mean, but it never crossed my mind. I assumed all was known around there - should've known better.
It does line up (roughly) with Copy Howe, and Pike of Stickle. We have to remember that Pike of Stickle wasn't the only Great Langdale axe factory. The whole of the Langdale Pikes (in local areas), seen from Elterwater, were quarried for axes.
I feel quite a few upright stones in Cumbria are ignored as, or are mistaken as, standing stones. What your photo shows looks like a genuine standing stone from most angles, but two of the photos don't look right.
I must revisit it.
Cheers for an intersesting post. Hope to get back on it soon.
