I've done the ladder thing. There was a time when Julian took one everywhere with him too. It is great to use, but I found that using the <i>wave the tripod around in the air above your head</i> technique works better and now leave the ladder at home on most occasions.

I must confess to having a helping hand with all of this. If any of you had been at Meg yesterday, you would've spied a bossy short-arsed woman directing where she wanted her poor suffering partner to put the ladders for her! In my defence, it was his idea in the first place.

Also, as he is a good foot taller than I am, he took a much better picture of the top of Meg herself.

It was really interesting though and gave a different perspective of how I saw the stones. The original idea was to try and get a picture of the whole site but we didn't manage that. Also the farmer had cut down one of the trees around the edge and there was huge great chunks of wood and orange bollards lying in amongst some of the stones, so it wasn't ideal.

Was quite surprised at the mini-bus of Japanese tourists too - I've seen coach parties turn up at Castlerigg and Stanton Drew, but never Meg.
