is the small square stone on the famhouse side of the circle? I dunno if it means owt but if this is the stone then that is very roughly the position from which to view the supposed midwinter sunset alignment.

Yes it is on the farm house side

Probably coincidence, but was very striking

For the winter solstice we are planning to spend sunrise at Catlerigg, then end up at Long Meg for sunset to observe the sunset alignment
