Nice place Anglezarke - been for a few walks around the waters, whats there of prehistoric origin?

Mornin'. And welcome. Come in, take a seat, it won't be long before someone offers us a cuppa :-)

I'll leave it at that, because I know nowt about that little part of the world.

Hi there!

It was a bit rude of us not to respond to your last post. The stone looks very intersting and enigmatic, but I'm afraid I know very little about the area so I didn't chip in. I still lknow very little about the area, but 'helo' anyway.

Do you know anything more about the stone. Is it Bronze Age? I do wish English Heritage would put some of their data on-line. It would make this sort of thing a lot easier!

Hello Rivington Pike, welcome aboard! This is the first time I've spoken to a hill... I think...

That stone definitely looks interesting - I reckon there's a lot of prehistoric stuff just waiting to be discovered all around Winter Hill, especially around Anglezark, under all that peat. As I've said before in my fieldnotes on TMA, everything seems to point towards Winter Hill and/or Rivington Pike. Pikestones in particular - even the name points to it! Have you seen this:

I've tried visiting a couple of times now, but to no avail - one time I was turned away and the other the place was locked up. It was found in Anglezark reservoir - and begs the question, what else lies beneath the reservoir's surface?

Hi there and welcome :-)
For some reason I've not managed to get across to Lancs yet - I'll get there at some point I'm sure!

And a late welcome and apologies to anybody else who's joined TMA recently - I'm sooo behind on these messages....
