And since the arrival of our protecting heroes, several years ago now, the place is nothing more than a tipping site in places. My view around Matlock is one of few, as they apparently throw shit hot parties up there vehicles, generators everything brought right up to or inside the stones..

I visited 9 ladies on a family holiday many years ago, on one of my first 'drag slightly reluctant people to megalithic sites' expeditions. Having persuaded the others to ascend the hill I was so mortified and embarrassed to find the circle being camped in by a bunch of ?arses? making their tea and making a mess, it nearly put me off the whole 'drag slightly..' thing. Of course I've persisted since. But that moment has stuck with me as one of those times that comes back to haunt you. So I'm so glad (in a way, of course) that others have found the same 'difficulties' with the 9 ladies - I suppose at least these tactless unthinking louts aren't at Stony Littleton for example, camping one sleeping bag to a burial chamber. Bastards.
