Went up to Stanton Moor this weekend - the sun was out, heather in full, glorious bloom. Then we got to the circle, and were disgusted. There were people camping there, complete with campfires and discarded rubbish. I go camping most weekends, and combine that with visiting as many sites as I can, but would never consider actually camping ON a site. I really hope it wasn't TMAers. So many people were up on the moor, but nobody, including me, stopped at the circle, as it was just too sad and was quite intimidating. Not sure whether to report it, or just to never go back. So sad...

hi sam Iv'e not been for a couple of years but there was people camping there then too , only then they were kind of temporary, these riff raff look more permanent. Are they protesters (of gravel pits wasn't it) who don't want to go home?

Have to agree wi you there....I was up over the weekend too.

Gotta point out that they weren't owt to do with the protestors who are in the quarry below the moor....by the circle it's just random party campers.
The protestors don't like it same as most folk don't...but they can't really police it, even tho' their presence there maybe attracts more 'campers' and the like. Tricky...
Been going on for years now up there...long before the protest camp arrived.

nice one
stu.

Hmm, glad I wasn’t there.
I was up at Stoke Flat on Sunday and was chatting to a Peak park ranger about various sites in the area, in the course of the conversation he mentioned large numbers of people and remains of camp fires at Nine Ladies but that most other sites seem to go unnoticed by visitors.
There was certainly no litter or crap at Stoke Flat, nothing at Barbrook I and II and at Gardom’s Edge it was just me and the sheep.

Yep, I visited a couple of years ago with my gf and we were greeted by a group of pissed up, noisy twats sat inside the circle, who were giving off a particularly intimidating vibe. So much so, that we only looked at the circle from a distance and didn't hang around for very long. There were cans, plastic bottles and other bits of rubbish strewn all over the place too.
