Hi George.
Had a bimble up to Hordron Edge today to check out what Bladup named "The outlier". This lays at around 220 degrees SSW from the circle at roughly 70 paces. Could it be anything significant ?

Cheers.

HSD , as the circle is 15-16 min diameter an outlier even at 70 paces (approx 70 metres ) couold be measured from extreme edges and provide a difference of 12 -18 degrees .Assuming the 220 is from the centre then the winter solstice sunset is about 227 (spur to the south east of the top of Win Hill ) so therefore potentially aligned from the circle if not the centre . If it is visible on GE and a good co -ordinate can be got all the better .Judging by the map the outlier is slightly downhill from the circle , is it below the horizon ? .

Hi George.
The 220 was roughly from the centre of the circle, and but for the heather the "outlier" would just be visible from the circle.
I've uploaded two images, one is with my lads either side of the "outlier" and the other a snapshop from GE showing the positions and a rock basin beyond on the large rock, which is the only feature on it. Dunno if it would have any significance but thought i'd mark it anyway. :)

Cheers.
