In Edmund Bogg's book 'Higher Wharfedale' (1904) chapter IX 'Burnsall and Grassington' he writes with reference to Grassington "On the south side of the ancient settlement there is a circle of stones, the scene of a supposed druidical enclosure". This is all he offers, but in additon there is a photo/painting showing what appears to be 5-6 large stones in the foreground and a large arc of stones going into the distance. If the picture is to be believed the circle is huge.

Nothing is shown on OS maps of Grassington. I wondered whether anyone else has come accross a reference to this site, if it existed, and whether anything is still there?

I was just looking on 'Magic' and there are a lot of cairns and stuff up there. The nearest circle seemed to be this one

but that's over the beck and I guess is really near Hebden not Grassington.
You could look on the 'magic' map if you have a good idea whereabouts Mr Bogg meant (and have a decent internet connection..)

A search on Pastscape for Grassington shows Yarnbury Henge (SE 06 NW 6) at SE 0141 6541 which is scheduled as a henge, but no stone circle or standing stones. There are pics on the Megalithic Portal http://www2.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=7694. But also on the Portal are Grassington A stone circle or ring cairn at SE0250266715 (http://www2.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=952) and possible stone circle Grassington B at SE025667 (http://www2.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=953).
