Very niiiice!
Thanks for the link, Fitz.

Unfortunately a bit too late to ask for it in my Crimbo stocking... but it's going on my list for the New Year :-)

Cheers

Just thought I'd give this a bump.
It's not every day that one of our own gets a book published.

My copy dropped on the mat this morning.
It's an absolutely beautiful book. Graeme Chappell and Paul Brown have done a marvellous job.

Did anybody get book tokens for Christmas ;-)

Well hoorah-de-rahrah!

Arrived from Tempus this morn, and what a fine thing it is.

Not just a new rock art book, but a damn good new rock art book. With especially nice illustrations and sensible theorising. Top-notch stuff!

Picked up my copy on Saturday and have to say it's an impressive looking piece of work. As a few others have noted the illustrations are fantastic, the shading on the drawings adds to a sense of scale and texture giving a 3D look to the rocks. I've only had chance to have a quick flick through it but I've already noticed that while a lot of the carvings seem to be 'generic' rock art there also seems to be many stones that have a very different vocabulary to those further to the south-west of Yorkshire.

Anyway, top marks to all involved :-)

Did the book do the biz outanabout then?

Did you find stuff?

My copy finally arrived yesterday. Only had chance to do a quick scan of it so far, but it looks to be a terrific little book. Maps tested yesterday were easy to follow, sketches are clear & bundles of info on the areas covered. Now all I need is a field copy :-)
