This morning Ken and myself met up at Loughcrew before sunrise to test out one of Martin Brennan's suggested alignments in Cairn H. This is one of the ones with an open-topped passage and Ken had the great idea of covering the passage with a groundsheet so that light could only get in through the entrance. It worked a treat! The weather was perfect and neither of us have seen the view so clear. You could see Slievegullion and the Mourne Mountains!

Next year we'll take up enough groundsheets to cover the chamber as well as the passage for what should be truly spectacular results. It was amazing this time and if the weather is as good next year I can't wait.

Dougie Scott has done this with great results at Clava and Corrimony .

Yeah, what a great morning! We might have been a few days late but given recent weather it was near miraculous.

Great idea, I hoped to do it with Baurnadomeeny for the last summer solstice but the weather was crap that week so didnt get a chance.
What did ye use like a tarp or something?

Dealing with these photos reminded me of how good a morning this was!
