I am heading up to Scotland again this summer and whilst there will be visiting a few Pictish sites / symbol stones etc.

Are Pictish sites included on this fine forum?
(I don’t want to submit field notes etc if they are not included)

Thanks

Good morning Carl,
You will probably find this website of use / interest -
http://www.pictishstones.org.uk/

As it is thought the carvings were made c. the 7th century AD, they are too recent to be given their own pages on TMA. I appreciate you could point to a range of pages on the website that probably fail to qualify under this rule. But as a category, Pictish symbol stones are too modern.

You may find that some prehistoric sites were later reused by the Picts (for example, Craig Phadrig).

Thanks,
TMA Ed.

If you can get hold of book called "the pictish trail" that would be good handy referance book to put in your pocket. Think was orkney press you may get it on ebay. If you go into modern antiquarian site caergog has referenced or copied alot of info in it for a previous query. Have fun there are loads of great stones suenos stone in elgin well worth a look. The boar stone is now in council buildings glenurghart road inverness. Others may have moved too. The eagle stone in strathpeffer is cemented in as apparently if it falls there will be a flood according to the brahan seer! He was a man who made many predictions but was burnt as a witch at chanory point on the black isle. There is a great lighthouse and good place to see the dolphins. Have a great trip but watch out for the hungrey seagulls! As always excuse my spelling. X
