I will be in Wales in September of this year. I plan on getting there by taking the ferry from Cork, Ireland to Swansea. I want to go see Moel ty Uchaf, and maybe Castlerigg. I will not have a car so I am wondering if it is at all possible to take a bus, train, or hitchhike up there with relative easy? Or should I just give up the idea altogether?

Two great circles.

Would you not be better hitch hiking from Cork to Dublin and taking the ferry to Holyhead? Not sure about this one, but it may be easier than hitching up the centre of Wales!

Thanks for all of your advice. I should have enough money to hop a train or a bus from Cork to Dublin. I was unaware of any ferrys to England from there. Then again this is my first time venturing to the Islands. Could I get to Liverpool from Dublin by ferry?(Probably a stupid question)

There are 'rail rover' tickets for the trains in Mid Wales which are 'relevant' for all journeys from Pwelli to Aberystwyth.
Think you can buy them on a daily basis, or for a week which includes all local buses too (mind you, the buses are fairly infrequent unless it's from the larger towns). The trains are fairly frequent though, i think it's Centro which run the service, but don't quote me on that!
Seem to remember the tickets were fairly cheap, though that was a few years ago now (there's also a nice council run campsite if your camping. It's about a mile East of Towyn and is called Ynysimygwyn or something...well cheap and has good facilities too.

Angelsey has all the tombs you could wish to see, though i never found the peeps that friendly/helpfull.
Bangor's OK, as it has a Uni there, so the peeps are a little more accomadating (though watch out for the 'white trash' housing estate to the N of the town (i think it's north...been a while ? full of drunks, junkies and nasty Welsh nationalist/BNP types).

Anyway, however you get there have a great time (and pack youor raingear, I'm sure you'll need it :)

Thank you for all of your advice. Based on money and time(two things that I have so little of), I think that I will head to Dublin and catch a flight to Liverpool or Manchester. From there I will head to Keswick, and see Castlerigg. I am also toying with the idea of just staying in County Cork, as there are many circles to see there.
