I think between us "prehistoricsitesfromsupermarketcarparks.wordpress.com" could actually be a goer
He doesn't look very happy does he?
I love the sight of barrows on a ridge.
As for the chap not looking very happy; by the look of his shirt he's a Bristol Rovers fan, which explains it all. Hasn't been happy for years, poor sod.
;D

Yes me too. I love Dorset for that.
I think the Bristol Rovers fan was just a bit suspicious of me pointing my camera in his direction or thought I was a paparazzo! But the reason for taking the picture was to highlight the visual pollution of what should have been a beautiful and dramatic landscape by the addition of a radio mast, electricity pylons, a bypass and supermarket carpark. Just awful!
Yup, you're right; the foreground does cheapen the view somewhat. Sometimes it's nice to view the past from the present. It seems to bring home the fact that 3,000 or 4,000 years in the past isn't really that long in the grand scheme of things. Mountains get eroded to nothing with time, as do barrows, and 3 or 4 millennia haven't had much effect on the softer barrows. Brings home the vastness of time, so it does.
