Looking north to Tinnis Castle... the density of ancient settlement around these parts is.... or rather was... breathtaking.
I have lived smack in the middle of this for over a decade and I am still trying to come to grips with the sheer quantity of hillforts, settlements, cairns, cremation cemeteries and stones within an area around 5 X 8 miles centred on the Kilbucho/ Drumelzier area (roughly the Clyde/ Tweed watershed). The Kilbucho Valley below Crosscryne is chock full.
It is bewildering.
