Ha, no this was taken from the road to the north and was as close as I went. I still had to walk back to Tavistock and it was getting dark, so this site awaits another visit.
It wasn't too bad, across a bit of moor on a clear footpath in half-light, then mostly quiet lanes until the last mile or so (which was less pleasant, verge hopping in the dark). Decent bus service from Tavistock to Princetown, but the last bus back was too early to make the most of the lovely evening, so chose to walk instead. Was staying in Plymouth for work, which is a good base for the moor.
So you crept up as it got dark to get a better view! Hope the owner of the land has not got a shotgun ;)

You are intrepid tsc - walking in the almost-dark back to Tavistock. Sounds like a great place to visit Dartmoor from. Lovely photo.
Thanks :)

Almost like the guy in the middle has a cap on and having a snooze. Lovely place :-)
That was exactly what I thought too :)
