Cracking image there KK, much atmospheric.
Are there many other such Tors in the area? 'Cos it strikes me that aside from looking quite defensible, and thus suitable for iron age and early medeival fortifications, it would also have been one of those 'Significant Natural Features' that attracted attention in the stone ages. I'm thinking that quite a few of the places in Northumberland that have freaky rock formations also have evidence of activity as early as the mesolithic, running through to at least the iron age or Romano-British periods.
The other thing that I wonder , which isn't unconnected in my attempt to put a site I've never visited in the context of ones I have in Northumberland, is in regard to proximity to rock art. Is there any rock art near Carl Wark?
