A winter visit is recommended, the cairn will be swamped with bracken in the summer.

Looking north towards the Reform Tower, which makes for the best landmark to find this cairn.

Buried in bracken, this is actually one of the biggest cairns on Stanton Moor.

12/02. SK251633. This large cairn is near the Reform Tower. The Heathcotes excavated here in the 1930’s and found a food vessel and a flint arrowhead.

Tower Cairn

Visited 27.5.13

Spotted this Cairn just south of the stone tower whilst walking to the Nine Ladies.

Not a lot to see other than a large heather shrouded mound.

I would say it was approximately 1.5m high x 20m across.

Cairn is shown on the O/S map
