Looking southwest. A winter visit would unveil the cairn from the midsummer bracken.

Looking southeast towards the television mast on Caradon Hill. The cairn is unusual for the area, in that it sits down in a shallow valley with no intervisibility with other monuments.

The top of the cairn. The engine house of the New Phoenix Mine is visible over the brow of the hill. It’s close to the Trewalla cairns, which can’t be seen from here.

Walla Barrow

This small cairn (no it is not a barrow!) lies near to a medieval tin stream works, in a moorland valley. It was excavated by Croft-Andrew in the mid 20C, but nothing of interest was found. This is probably due to the fact that after the stunning find of a gold cup in Rillaton Barrow (this is actually a cairn also!), every mound of earth or stone in the district was turned over in search of more treasure.
