A good view into the cist, giving some idea of scale.
Inside the cist – apologies for the reflections.
The beaker – notice the very fine workmanship in the decoration. I was amazed that the camera managed to record such detail when shooting through the glass cover.
The flint knife. Brymbo Man’s skull is just to the right.
Brymbo Man’s skull – reckon they’ve made a very good job of reconstructing his fizzog from these remains.
The exhibition – very accessible, especially to younger megaraks
Cheryl admiring the lovely monolith that is Carreg Hir. Behind, the Powys Ovine Choral Society put in a stonking performance of J.S. Bach’s ‘Sheep May Safely Graze‘.
The view sea-wards. It is interesting to think that much of the coastline will has eroded away over the past 5,000 years or so; what would it have looked like when it was built?
The absolutely breath-taking vista which surrounds Caer-Dyni. The chamber itself can be seen in the bottom left of the picture, just above and to the right of the sheep.
A view of both dolmens, showing their entrances, and the Lleyn Penninsula in the background on the right. Bloody lovely.
