Pretty little stone just outside the monument
‘Moth’ gave this site its name many years ago, who am I to disagree!
There are 4 monuments all together making up the St Pierre complex
Despite being open heathland some of the sites were quite difficult to get to as there were measures in place to protect the soil and low fencing to protect the monuments
Looking from the East, has a stone circle and menhir been added or is it somehow part of the overall design
Looking from the East, quite simply one of the most beutiful and stunning sites I have come across
Standing like two gate posts leading on to other monuments
Even though I have been here before it is difficult to contain the excitement as you approach the alignment, like a ceremonial route leading to all the magnificent monuments to follow
A real survivor this one. Holiday homes in the area have reduced numerous sites to either garden trophies or reset elsewhere on the peninsula
In broken English I was asked what I was taking photos of, apparently they had lived there for years and had no idea it was other than natural rocks, not sure they were very impressed, however, they now know!
This alignment has some of the most interesting individual stones I have come across, what was meant to be a quick visit occupied much of the afternoon
Assume it was once a full circle, difficult to guess as only one quadrant remains
The remains are pretty impressive as they are, however, you cannot help but wonder how big this cromlech originally was.
This dolmen has done well to survive among the holiday homes, unusual selection of stones used in its construction
Trapped, a zoo for old dolmens
This may look a little out of place, however, it is the third of the menhirs here at Manemeur and now. like so many on Quiberon, serves as a village set piece
Sister stone just across the road from each other, this one defying the cafe to spread any further out
Unusual standing stone in a rather beautiful location
