Don’t lean on the stones – they’ll probably fall over! Its a terrible shame but one or two of the stones are probably not in their correct positions at all. Still, as others have said, its a great walk up to the circle and you are rewarded with a fantastic view when you get there :)
After a few, er, “difficulties” regarding access to this site, to their credit the local parish council have taken steps to secure better public access.
I bumped into the owners of the land on which the henge feature lies and they confirmed there was nothing visible from the ground.
Blimey, it took some finding!!!
Its nice to put Lincolnshire on the prehistoric map! This is a henge-like feature – circular ring ditch with 4 gaps aligned approx N-S-E-W (the latter pair are larger), c.30m in diameter. Close-by is an area of reasonably concentrated flint and stone finds. As is usual with this area of intensive arable farming, there is nothing spectacular to see.....the joy will have to come from merely knowing its there.
Off the beaten track, but well worth the effort....
