After reading your post I'm beginning to think that it must be on top, if not very near to the red rock a small way down the riverbank from where gran lived (Beachly Head, on top of the riverbank) --------------> 'banging head on wall :-)'
I've got some ok old photo's of the different types of rock next to each other, also at it's feet are the seabed slabs with fossils.
It was at a time that we regular went to visit and I knew nothing about mega or microliths beyond Stonehenge or even knew how much interesting pre-history places there are, and gran wasn't into these kind of things, her cultural sence didn't go much further than the horseshoe, Chepstow Castle and Tintern Abbey, ... the small real wild strawberries also went unnoticed.
So thanks for bringing it to attention.
