Could both Man and Mon be connected to the Irish sea-deity Manannan mac Lir (known as Manawyddan, son of Llyr in Wales) ? He was the guardian of the Blessed Islands and father of Mongan. The Blessed Islands have been identified with Arran (Emain Abhlach) and the Isle of Man - so why not Ynis Mon also?
