And for those who are fascinated by these halls of the dead, Past Horizons has put an article up about long houses in Poland, LBK pottery culture, which is where my mind jumped a couple of days ago. Anyway though they did not burn the houses down and build a long barrow over the remains, the longevity of respect for the 'ancestral home' is to be seen, with the building of barrows alongside the houses......
