Thanks all for your suggestions, I've printed them all off so we can take them with us, fingers crossed for some good weather!

Couple of other things. Whitby through the ages went up on A H Gray’s blog this morning and might be of interest. Whitby Museum & Pannett Art Gallery is well worth a visit. Some nice flints, very good paintings in the Gallery, a library and a tearoom (look out for the Hand of Glory in one of the Museum display cases). The Museum gardens are well kept and a good place to sit and have lunch if the weather’s fine (you can pick up something tasty at Botham’s Bakery in Skinner Street which is very close to the Museum). There’s also the Captain Cook Memorial Museum in Grape Lane that’s always popular with children and adults alike.
