By the way, I had a look on the magic/os map to see if any of those unploughed islands in the sea of wheat were marked as barrows. But they weren't. Not that that necessarily means they weren't I suppose.
Also I see that that wood we were looking at directly in front of the longbarrow entrance is called 'The Hare Warren'. No unusual bumps marked or anything. But a pretty good pagan animal link in the name! if nothing else.
