| Yes ferns and bracken are good for shelters but contain silica threads which can give a nasty cut if you're not careful! (I learned this on a Saxon-themed school trip.) So the deer would be safe! When I was a teacher, I used to elbow prehistory into the curriculum wherever I could. We did a whole term of prehistoric art, making cave-paintings and clay rock carvings!
